| Nathan Edward Galloway (1879-1962), folk artist-carver, "is said to have made a number of large, complicated wood carvings to enter in the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition, but virtually all were destroyed by a fire before being sent to California."
Mr. Galloway was born February 18 in Springfield, MO. The Dickerson Park Zoo has a large (44 inches in diameter and 48 inches tall) carving of a lion in a cage, carved from a sycamore stump and displayed at the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition.
