| | Landscape painter, etcher. Born in Norwich, CT on Oct. 5, 1868. Gere studied at the AIC, Pratt Institute (Brooklyn), Chicago Academy of Fine Arts, and with John Vanderpoel and Frederick Freer. By 1907 she had settled in Los Angeles where she headed the art department at State Normal School and taught at UC Extension. A spinster, Gere died in Los Angeles on July 29, 1949. Member: Calif.
