| Born in Mokelumne, CA on Nov. 21, 1861. Nellie Stearns began art studies in San Francisco at the School of Design under Virgil Williams, L. P. Latimer, and Emil Carlsen. As one of Wm Keith's favorite pupils, she was greatly influenced by Keith in many outdoor sketching sessions. In 1887 she was a cofounder of the San Francisco Sketch Club, the first women's art club in California. She married Paul Goodloe in 1892 and lived for a few years in Cupertino; however, San Francisco was her home exc (showing 500 of 996 characters). |
