This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Pastelist Nicora Gangi, born in Indiana, has been a member of the art department faculty at Syracuse University in New York since 1985.  Her goal as an artist and educator are the same, to open the eyes of others.  Gangi paints spiritual narratives, which often reflect the artist's Christian beliefs and her conviction that many people today have lost their way in life. Her still lifes are often a collection of objects that force the questions of who are we?  Where are we going? What is important to us?  She finds inspiration for her still life paintings in reading from the Bible and praying.

Gangi studied at the Hartford Art School in Hartford, Connecticut and at Syracuse University where she earned BFA and MFA degrees.

She is represented in galleries in the northeast and she has exhibited in numerous group and solo exhibitions.  Her awards include the Harris Popular Award from the University of Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery.
