PeterR.Gerbert is an award-winning, wildlife artist with a passion for portraying the Earths wild beauty with sensitive, lifelike detail. Mr. Gerberts acrylic paintings always give lasting impressions. The artist is always careful to create original images with unique compositions and imaginative ideas, rendering scenes that give people a very realistic view into the untamed lives of animals and birds.
Mr. Gerbert attributes much of his inspiration to the amount of time he spends exploring and camping out in remote wilderness areas, where he studies wildanimals and birds in their natural surroundings. He is very particular aboutall of the elements that make up a composition including the time of year, theweather, animal relationships, insects, and the plant life that makes up a particularhabitat.
Mr. Gerbert was commissioned in 1998 for the original painting "Roseate Sunset" depicting roseate spoonbills in their natural environment; now on permanent display in the lobby of the Inn at DisneysCelebration. The artist has been commissioned three times by Bits & Pieces, Inc. for the original paintings "Life in the Everglades," "Butterflies of the World" and "Exotic Birds ofthe World," all three works are being produced by the company as 1,000or 1,500 piece jigsaw puzzles and marketed internationally. The original painting "Scenic Overlap Ahead" was included as part of the WildWings, Brilliant Birds exhibit at the Tampa Museum of Art.
As the featured artist of the Florida Wildlife Federation, a series of limited edition prints and wildlife art products by Mr. Gerbert are being marketed throughout Florida, with a percentageof all sales directly benefiting wildlife conservation efforts in Florida. In a joint effort with the National Wildlife Federation and the approval of Florida Governor Jeb Bush, 600 of Peter R. Gerberts "Life in the Everglades" posters were shipped to Congress in the fall of 2000 to help convince Congressmen of the importance of the new Everglades restoration bill. Every member was presented with this extraordinary, colorful poster to keep for their own. The bill was passed unanimously.
When hes not forging his way through the wilderness, Peter R. Gerbert can be found creating works of art in his studio overlookingwooded acreage in Hernando County, Florida. He is actively involved with artgalleries and wildlife theme parks throughout Florida, the Florida Public School System and the National Audubon Society.
ARTIST'S STATEMENT "I have a true fascination for the Earth's great expanse of wilderness and all the living creatures found there. Spending much of time camping out and exploring in remote wilderness areas, I try to get an in depth look into the untamed lives of animals and birds; with a feeling for all the elements making up the particular, surrounding habitat. With acrylic paints and illustration board I hope to provide others with some of these remarkable glimpses that I have attained: the learning experiences, relationships, the reasoning, the struggles, along with the dreams and creative thoughts that all wild things must experience. It is my notion that animals and birds live fulfilling lives too, just like us humble human beings." -PeterR.Gerbert 2001
