| | Born in Oakland, CA on Feb. 18, 1914. Ghirardelli was a graduate of UC. After studying painting with his great-uncle Chris Jorgensen and L. P. Latimer, he painted landscapes around the San Francisco Bay area until the 1940s. He then gave up painting to devote his attention to the family's chocolate business. He was a resident of Oakland until his demise on April 27, 1990. | Source:
