| | Born in Humboldt, SD on Sept 2, 1915. Gabel was educated at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and continued at UCLA. During WWII he served as a Navy pilot and won many awards for bravery including the Navy Cross. After the war he returned to Los Angeles where he taught art in the public schools until retirement about 1976. He painted a variety of subject matter until 1990 and lived in Los Angeles until his demise on July 5, 1994. Exh: Calif.
