An American Master of Watercolor and Etching by Peter Hastings Falk, 1999.
Sears Gallagher was a Boston painter who is counted in the pantheon of the first generation of the "Boston School" that included Edmund C. Tarbell, William M. Paxton, Joseph R. DeCamp, Frank Benson, Philip L. Hale, and Herman Dudley Murphy. While these artists built their careers on a foundation of portraiture and still life painting, Gallagher pursued a different route. In contrast, he focused on waterc (showing 500 of 27459 characters). |
