| Credited with publication of the first souvenir postcard of the South, Selina Bres was born in New Orleans and was active there between 1896 and 1935. She studied with Ellsworth Woodward, at Tulane University, and Newcomb College where she was a member of the first class in pottery decoration and reportedly made the first sale of a piece of Newcomb pottery. Through 1910, she remained as a student at Newcomb, also studying voice and piano.
