This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following, submitted May 2005, is from the artist.

Known for fine-art easel and mural painting and decorative work, Stephan Giannini grew up Chicago and had an early interest in art. In Chicago he studied at the American Academy of Art and at Palette and Chisel Art Club . Later he attended Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut, where he focused on drawing and painting as well as anatomy and sculpture, and was in the very first graduating class of which there were four students.

During his final year at the Academy, he was awarded the John Stobart Grant for Independent Study.

Stephen Giannini has received many awards including the Palette & Chisel Silver medal and The Broadway Street Art (Chicago) fair grand prize.

After returning to Chicago, he continued painting independently and also began to do mural painting and decorative work for homes and businesses. During these years, he was involved with or executed independently decorative commissions all over the mid-western states as well as on the Hawaiian Islands. As this facet of his work progressed he began to work on historical restorations of large-scale
decorations and murals in major secular and religious buildings, working on numerous different projects, including three state capitals and two cathedrals.

In the last few years he has participated in the execution of three Richard Haas murals in Fort Worth, Texas and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Since April 2003, Stephan Giannini resides in Amsterdam in The Netherlands and
continues to paint and pursue decorative commissions and illustration.
