| | Born in Los Angeles, CA on Jan. 23, 1894. Gores studied at Stanford University, Ecole du Louvre, University of Paris, and with Henry V. Poor. Following service in WWI, he returned to Los Angeles and was active there into the early 1930s. He then spent 28 years in Ann Arbor as a professor at the University of Michigan. In 1940 he authored Manual of the Visual Arts.
