| A British Impressionist painter known for landscape and figure painting, Wilfrid DeGlehn studied at Brighton College, the South Kensington School, and the Ecole d' Beaux Arts in Paris where he studied with Elie Delaunay.
He was a member of the Royal Academy in London and the New England Art Club and was a close friend of John Singer Sargent whom he met in the studio of Edwin Austin Abbey.
In 1904, he married the American painter Jane Erin Emmet. The DeGlehns traveled and painted with Sargent in Italy and Greece. Between World War I and World War II, the couple traveled extensively in the United States. |
