William O. Golding (1874–1943)
Self-taught African American artist William O. Golding traveled the world while working as a merchant seaman for nearly half a century. Shanghaied from the Savannah waterfront as an eight-year-old child, Golding documented his travels from memory in approximately seventy maritime drawings, which (showing 500 of 3471 characters). |
