| Holbrook was born November 26, 1874 in Topeka, Kansas. Studied at Holbrook College in Lebanon, OH where he earned a BS, BA, and LLB. Retired as a New York attorney and began studying museum methods and management. Became the principal benefactor and founder of the Georgia Museum of Art in Athens, GA donating over 100 paintings by 100 American artists spanning over 100 years and serving as director there from 1948-69. He died in Athens, Georgia in June of 1974.
