This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following information was submitted by Scott Massman, nephew of the artist.

Andrei Hudaikoff was born in Russia in 1896. At age 3 he was noted for his gift as an artist and was placed in an art school. When the Bolshevik revolution took
place he escaped the county and wound up in New York City. He married his English teacher Doris, my father's Aunt.

Andrei then looked for employment and heard of a theater company needing a set designer. The name of the theater was Radio City Music Hall. Andrei developed a stage set that could offer three different scenes by the pulling of some strings. He has a patent for this system, which is recorded at the patent office. There are illustrations of these, which are quite interesting. He made quite a bit of money and moved to the Newtown, Connecticut area where he build his house while living in a tent. His house had Russian murals engraved and painted on the outside and hopefully are still there today. His address was Route 3, Pocono Road 06470.

Andrei did commission work and painted lots of various subjects. Christianity was of upmost importance to him. His last commission was at some type of Orthodox church in Chicago, which I would like to find and visit sometime. The Madonna was placed on the dome of the church and the 12 disciples placed on the walls in the sanctuary. They were extremely life like.

Andrei had a way with animals. He would put a sunflower seed in his mouth and birds would come and take it. He found a skunk that had been in a fight with its intestines hanging out. Andrei sewed the skunk back together and the animal became his pet.

Andrei died in his home in 1985. He had a daughter that abandoned him and moved to Hawaii.  Andrei was very hurt by that. I know he had some Russian friends that he enjoyed, and he was a very good chess player. (always beat me!)

Andrei believed that the best way to get exercise was to grow a garden and work outdoors. I would stay with him for a few weeks in the summer and help with the mowing the grass etc. Michaelangelo was his favorite painter. Andrei enjoyed a Manhattan and also vodka. He had a reverence for animals and despised people that were prejudice against Jewish people. He was a gentle man and believed in a good
work ethic. I am proud to be related to him and I miss him very much.
