This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Born in Bremerton, Washington and raised in rural Wyoming, Ann Hanson has a life-long love of western life, which she depicts in her oil and pastel painting. She attended Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming.

She lives with her husband, Steve, overlooking the Trapper Creek Valley near Shell, Wyoming. At first she worked primarily with pastels because, raising a family, she needed the flexibility to leave and return to her work, but once the family was raised, she changed to oil which she usually paints on gesso hardwood. She uses a camera to record her images and carefully plans her work.

In 1990, she won the W.E. Weiss Purchase Award.

Biography from Trailside Galleries:
Born in Bremerton, Washington, and raised in rural Wyoming, Ann Hanson now lives with her husband, Steve, in a home that doubles as her studio overlooking the Beautiful Trapper Creek Valley at the foot of the Big Horn Mountains outside of Shell, Wyoming.

Her detailed oil paintings show her love of the land, the people and the animals that share her life. Her interest in art started when she was eight years old. After studying commercial art as a young woman, she turned to chronicling the work and relationships of ranch life.

She enjoys painting her subjects close up and loves capturing small details. In addition to painting her friends and family, Ann is especially fond of painting horses. She has been in several western art shows, has received multiple awards, and has been featured in numerous magazines.

An annual participant in the Buffalo Bill Show in Cody, Wyoming, she exhibited for the first time at the 2003 Prix de West Invitational Exhibition at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
