A painter, Antoon Heinsbergen was born in Holland on Dec. 13, 1894. He immigrated to Los Angeles as a small boy. After studying at Chouinard and Otis Art Institutes, he was sought after as a decorator of theaters. With a crew of 185, he painted wall and ceiling decorations in 757 theaters in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
Using bricks from the old Los Angeles City Hall, he built a miniature castle on Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood to house his company. In his (showing 500 of 776 characters). |
