Primarily a landscape, still life and figure painter, she applies pastel to a ground glass museum board, or paints in oil on linen. Hails had her first solo show with much success in 1981, and since then her works have been exhibited at the National Arts Club, the Butler Institute of American Art, the Societe des Pastellistes de France, the New York Art Expo, and others.
She is an elected member of the Artist's Equity Association, the Pastel Society of America, and the Maryland Pastel Society.
Hails is listed in the Who's Who of American Art and her work is in numerous corporate and private collections.
