| While in his teens, Benjamin Horning ran away from home to become an actor. He worked in Boston and then studied painting and sculpture in Paris. Returning to the U.S., he was a theatrical manager in Colorado Springs. Badly injured in a serious accident in 1929, he moved to southern California to recuperate and settled in Laguna Beach where he concentrated on painting. Horning died there on Jan. 18, 1936.
