| Benjamin Hartley was born in Scotland in 1838. Hartley was an itinerant Episcopal minister and a resident of Los Angeles by 1909. He died there on June 7, 1912.
Exhibited: Los Angeles Painters Club, 1909 (scenes of Africa and Ohio).
