This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Bob Hall was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and earned a masters degree in theatre at the University of Nebraska. He then moved to New York City for 25 years pursuing dual careers of cartooning and theatre arts. His cartooning career has also allowed him to live several years in England and Ireland, where he pulled inspiration from Celtic legends and heroes.

His first professional work was penciling and inking several horror stories for Charlton Comics. In 1976 he began a professional association with Marvel Comics which was to last more than fifteen years. At one time or another, Bob drew most of Marvel's major characters and titles including The Champions, Spiderman, Dr. Doom., Conan, Thor, The Fantastic Four, The Submariner, Captain America, PSI
Force, The Avengers and The New Mutants. He also drew the comic adaptations of the films Willow, Dark Man and Captain America and in 1986, penciled and inked the graphic novel Emperor Doom.

In 1992, Bob Hall became a writer and artist for the newly formed Valiant Comics, later Acclaim.. He wrote and penciled the monthly series Shadowman, consistently one of the "100 best selling comics" in '92 and '93 The special edition, Shadowman Meets AeroSmith took Bob back stage to meet the living legend rockers just as years earlier, Spiderman Meets the Not Ready For Prime Time Players led to his introduction him to John Belushi. Also at Valiant, Bob wrote Timewalker and created Armed and Dangerous, a black and white "comic-noir,"a cult classic which became Bob's favorite creation.

After Acclaim's eventual demise, Bob wrote and drew stories for Vertigo's Flinch series as well as five Batman graphic novels. He has also been the illustrator of two Spiderman hard back novels, created posters and logos for theatres and has several portrait commissions to his credit. Hall is an active member of the National Cartoonists Society, Actors Equity Association and the Society of Stage Directors &

In terms of fine art, Bob has 30 years of oil and acrylic canvas painting to his credit and an extensive portfolio of black and white figure drawings. He studied the dynamics of physical action under John Buscema at his School for Comic Book Art. This led him to life drawing and eventually abstract painting at the Don Stacy Studio and New York's New School.

Exhibition venues have been the Center For Great Plains Studies, The Haydon Gallery, The University of Nebraska at Kearney Gallery, and Modern Arts Midwest. He has had showings in South Dakota and Missouri.

Future plans include extending his work on canvas and paper to meld the
worlds of action heroes and fine art.
