| The following, submitted July 2004, is from the artist.
"Born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, Callie Hirsch has lived her adult life in New York City. Her work is a form of Abstract Surrealism, done with oil on canvas, and found materials.
She was educated at New York's Parsons School of Design, and New York University. Her family vacationed on Caribbean Islands when she was young, and this is where she learned to love the sea, and all the creatures that inhabit it ...
Her career as an artist began with interest in the process of creating, the exploration of an idea. The paintings are created as stylized pathways, stories told through intricate designs that reveal and intrigue. Each painting is an attempt to recreate the power of personal identity as a living and evolving body. Every reaction feeds the energy that furthers the need to create pieces with graceful lines, intricate textures and amorphous forms.
