Carl Heilborn was a landscape artist and set designer for the movie industry. He was born in Oregon, received his art and architecture training from the University of Oregon 1926-1930 and advanced art training at the Chouinard School of Art in Los Angeles in 1931. He studied modern art movements of Europe and was much influenced by fauvism and particularly by Vlaminck when he traveled to Holland and France in 1938.
