This biography from the Archives of AskART:
The following is from Susan Hobbs:

Caroline Hecker, student of Wm Merritt Chase and Abbott Thayer, exhibited widely in the 1880s and 90s. In 1821 she had a one man show at Knoedlers.
In 1927 a year after her death in San Diego, she had a memorial show at the Fine Arts Gallery of San Diego.

Thomas Wilmer Dewing (1851-1938) painted a portrait of Caroline Hecker
(Locke) in 1894, the year of her marriage to Jesse Albert Locke. Together they founded the Newman School (Catholic Boarding school; among its alums was F. Scott Fitzgerald.) in Hackensack New Jersey, and she apparently left
her career as an artist
