| Charles A. Hessler was born in California in April 1866. By 1870 Hessler was living in San Francisco. He worked for Crocker and Schmidt lithograph companies until the 1906 earthquake. He then moved down the peninsula to San Mateo where he remained until his demise on Oct. 22, 1922.
