This biography from the Archives of AskART:
| Born in Payette, Idaho, he became a painter of abstract color compositions with mystical, atmospheric qualities.
He graduated from the University of Oregon and later attended the Brooklyn Museum Art School where he earned a degree in 1950. He then spent two years in Paris and Florence and in 1956, went to India on a Fulbright Grant. There the exposure to metaphysical thinking deeply influenced his art as did his occasional working as an assistant to Mark Rothko, famous Abstract Expressionist. |
