| | Born in New Jersey on Jan. 23, 1900. Hand drew "Andy Gump" and "Out of the Inkwell" for Max Fleischer in 1919 before joining Disney Studios in 1930. He directed and animated such classics as "Snow White" and "Bambi" as well as about 60 cartoons. About 1945 Hand was lured to England by J. Arthur Rank to teach animation to English artists.
