| | Born in Los Angeles, CA on June 8, 1904. After graduating from Los Angeles High School, Heslet studied briefly at Chouinard School of Art. Afterwards he spent a few years in his native city doing theatrical posters and in the art departments of the movie studios. In 1927 he settled in San Francisco and worked in the art department of Pacific Telephone. After the crash of 1929, Heslet did freelance work until 1935. He then spent the next 40 years as staff artist for the San Francisco Examiner. In his leisure he painted landscapes and portraits.
