| A painter, etcher and muralist whose subjects included portraits, European street scenes, decorative and religious motifs, ghost towns, and landscapes of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Mexico, Dorothy Stauffer Hay was born in Red Oak, Iowa to Walter and Florence Brenholts. She showed art talent as a child.
