This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Submitted by Marilyn F. Herrmann, wife of Edward E. Herrmann, February 2, 2003. Approved by the artist.

Edward E. Herrmann is best known for his watercolor landscapes, particularly of Colorado, though recently he is doing nonobjective paintings with acrylics and watercolor on paper.

Herrmann is primarily a self-taught painter, having attended workshops of well-known artists earlier in his career.

Edward E. Herrmann was born in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, August 23, 1914. He has been painting for 60 years. He now resides in Estes Park, Colorado, where he paints in his studio at home. Educated as a mechanical engineer for three years at Purdue, Indiana and Penn State Universities, he worked in industry from 1935 to 1958, including management of Interior Design and Color for Raymond Loewy Associates and Studebaker-Packard Corporation. He established his own design consulting firm in South Bend, and he also taught at the Art Center there for sixteen years. He opened his fine art studio and gallery in South Bend in 1969, and moved to Estes Park, Colorado in 1975.

He and his wife Marilyn owned and operated The Herrmann Gallery in Estes Park from 1976 till 1985. After spending winters in Arizona for fifteen years, Herrmann and his wife now live again full time in Estes Park.

Herrmann has traveled and painted in Europe, Mexico, Canada, Arizona, and many other scenic areas in the United States.

Herrmann's latest exhibit was a one-man retrospective at Royal Plum Gallery in Estes Park, Colorado in November 2002.
