Biography from Crocker Art Museum Store:
| Painter. Born in San Francisco, CA on Aug. 5, 1897.
After serving in WWI and graduating from UC Berkeley, Hicks studied painting in NYC with Boardman Robinson and continued in Europe for two years. Returning to NYC, he worked in a bank for many years before returning to California.
Settling in Santa Barbara, he pursued an art career and was active in the local art scene until his death on Nov. 17, 1987.
