Biography from Whistler House Museum of Art:
The following is from Peter Kostoulakos, ISA ˜ Fine Art Consultant and references the newspaper "Lowell Sun Online, March 20, 2002.

"Eleanor Humphrey noted Lowell artist of Whistler's birthplace; 93 March 20, 2002 LACONIA, N.H. -- Eleanor (Pratt) Humphrey, 93, a Lowell native and an accomplished artist in the city who did the etching of Whistler's birthplace in Lowell, died Friday, March 15 at the Belknap County Nursing Home in Laconia. Mrs. Humphrey was the wife of the late Otis M. Humphrey, who also resided in Lowell.

She was born in Lowell, on Dec. 6, 1908, daughter of the late Willard D. Pratt, president of the former Pratt and Forrest Co., and the late Jane R. Pratt. Mrs. Humphrey was educated in Lowell, having attended Rogers Hall. She also attended Wheaton College and the former Vesper George School of Art in Boston. While living in Lowell, she was the director of the former Lowell Art Association and did the etching of Whistler's birthplace which was published by Time Life in their Library of Art series of "The World of Whistler" in the 1970s.

Mrs. Humphrey lived in Lowell for 30 years. After she married in 1938, she and her husband moved to Boston. They next moved to Nashua, and then to Simsbury, Conn., where they resided most of their life.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Adams of Berkeley, Calif., and Carolyn Brown of Gilford, N.H.; a granddaughter, Caroline Adams of New York City's Brooklyn. She was also the sister of the late Russell Pratt of Lowell. ----------------------------------------------------------------------Eleanor Eleanor Pratt Humphrey, not unlike many women artists, accomplished a great deal of work before marriage and, therefore, many signed works bear only her maiden name. Miss Pratt, born in Lowell, MA on December 6, 1908, is best known for her etching of Whistler's Birthplace, which was published by Time Life in their Library of Art series of "The World of Whistler" in the 1970s. Eleanor Pratt Humphrey died March 15, 2002 in Laconia, NH at the age of 93.

Pratt was educated in Lowell and attended Rogers Hall. Later, she went on to further her education at Wheaton College and the former Vesper George School of Art in Boston. The first thirty years of her life were spent in Lowell, where she took on an active roll as the director of the Lowell Art Association. In 1938, Eleanor and her new husband Otis moved to Boston, MA; next, they moved to Nashua, NH, and then to Simsbury, CT, where they lived most of their life.
