Texas landscapist Emma Stockman Hendricks was born on September 1,
1868, in Suisun, California. She was only twelve when she
attended the California School of Design in San Francisco, having moved
to Napa Valley. In the 1880s, she studied with Sarah Campion at
the Young Ladies Seminary and with Oxley Miller in Napa.
In New York City, before 1893, she studied at the National Academy of
Design. In 1929, Hendricks took a summer session of study at the
Broadmoor Art Aca (showing 500 of 3196 characters). |
