| | Born in Corvallis, OR on Aug. 8, 1857. Flora Starr moved to California with her family in 1861. During the 1870s she studied at the local School of Design and by 1879 had established a studio in San Francisco. She appears to have married John Hewson in the 1890s and continued to live in San Francisco. She died in El Cajon, CA on March 16, 1937. Exh: Mechanics' Inst. (SF), 1887. | Source:
