| | Born in Winchester, England on Dec. 15, 1888. Flo Beesley immigrated to Iowa with her parents in 1898. After two years in Davenport, the family moved to Los Angeles. In 1902 she wed Roscoe Haverfield, a Matson Line executive, and settled in San Francisco where she studied with Matteo Sandona. Working in watercolor and oil, she painted landscapes, floral still lifes, and figure studies. Her sculpture includes marble and bronze busts as well as carved chests, cabinets, trays, and figurines in wood. Mrs. Haverfield died in San Francisco on April 11, 1981.
