| Florentine Harriet Hayden was the daughter of a prominent industrialist, inventor and lover of the arts, Hiram Washington Hayden and Pauline Migeon, a native of France. She grew up in Waterbury, Connecticut at the family homestead “Maplewild”, which is located in the center of what is today known as “Hayden Homestead Park”. In 1921 her two nieces transferred the property to the city of Waterbury and hired renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead to create a beautifu (showing 500 of 1140 characters). |
