| Florine A. Hyer was born in Iowa Falls, IA in 1868. By 1898 Hyer had settled in Los Angeles where she studied art at the American School Studio. Los Angeles was to remain her home except for the year 1908 when she assisted Luther Burbank in recording flower development in Santa Rosa. Burbank once said, “Florine can paint roses better than gardens can grow them.” Returning to Los Angeles from a trip to Hawaii in 1914, she established a studio in the Blanchard Bldg.&n (showing 500 of 1284 characters). |
