| | Born in Youngstown, OH on Jan. 22, 1900. Hope was a pupil at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles in 1922. The following year he and his new bride, Thelma Paddock, continued at the AIC. He returned to Los Angeles to work at MGM where he was art director for all of Garbo’s films and won an Oscar for “Merry Widow.” Hope died in Los Angeles on April 20, 1937. | Source:
