Born in San Francisco, California on March 26, 1889. Holl studied at the local Institute of Art in 1907-09. In 1908 he received the Julian Medal while a student at the Art Institute in San Francisco, which included a scholarship for a year to study in Paris. It is unclear, when and if he went to Paris at that time.
Following service in World War I, he lived in Paris for a couple of years and then became art director of the West Coast Fox Theaters. He was a lifelong (showing 500 of 1048 characters). |
