| Born in Denver, CO in 1886. Hale studied at the ASL in NYC and Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. His art career was interrupted by WWI in which he served in the ambulance corps of the American Field Service and won the Croix de Guerre with two citations. After returning from France, he established a studio in San Francisco and during the 1930s had homes in Santa Barbara and Atascadero. After WWII he returned to France and lived for many years in the village of Maille. Hale died in NYC on Oct. (showing 500 of 827 characters). |
