| Grace T. McCrory was born in September 10, 1909 at Reno, Texas. At a very young age, she had a desire to be an artist. She told the story of when she was about ten years old that her mother was out in the backyard doing the wash. Grace took the 'bluing stick', which was used in the rinse water to make the clothes whiter, and started drawing trees on the side of the house; although they were blue, she thought they looked real pretty.
