| Born in San Francisco, CA in 1869, the son of artists Anne and George Hopps, a designer of stage sets and nephew of artist Nellie Hopps. With his brother, Bert, Harry ran the United Glass Art Company in San Francisco which produced stained glass from the 1880s until about 1918. He then moved to Los Angeles where he remained. While painting in his leisure, he worked as art director for many of the pictures with Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks including "Thief of Bagdad." Hopps died in Los Angeles on Aug. 24, 1937.
