| Born on July 2, 1903 in Redlands, CA. Following graduation from San Bernardino High School and Pomona College, Harris studied sculpture at the Otis Art Institute until 1925. Inspired by the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, by 1929 he had opted for a career in architecture. In 1933 he began a private practice in Los Angeles that continued until 1951. During 1938-41 he taught at USC and the Chouinard Art School. A home he designed in Berkeley, CA in 1941 was voted one of America's most important (showing 500 of 848 characters). |
