This biography from the Archives of AskART:
Hendricks A. Hallet was primarily a marine and historical painter, and was most noted for his watercolors.

He studied briefly in both Antwerp and Paris, and then returned to Boston to further pursue his education and career as a marine painter.

His oils and watercolors were exhibited throughout New England, with numerous submissions to the Poland Spring Art Exhibitions over a twenty-year period. His paintings often depicted historical subjects, usually ships and maritime events, which represent his best works.

He was a member of the Boston Art Club and the Boston Society of Watercolor Painters. He exhibited at the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association in 1892 (medal), the Boston Art Club (1877 - 1909), the J. Eastman Chase Gallery in Boston (1886), and the Jordan Marsh Gallery (1896 - 1897). Many of his seascapes are of Boston Harbor and Mt. Desert, Maine. He is one of the White Mountain Artists who was known to have painted in the mountains of New Hampshire.

Hallett died suddenly in his Tremont Street studio in Boston on the 17th of March 1921

Biography from Roger King Fine Art:
Born in Charlestown, Massachusetts, Hendricks Hallett studied in Antwerp and Paris. Best known for marine scenes and shorescapes of Boston Harbor, he also painted in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and on Mount Desert Island in Maine.  He also painted historical subjects, particularly those relating to marine events.

Hallett worked outdoors, sketching with pencil, making color notes, and translated his sketches into oils in his studio.  He made sketching trips to the coast of England, and exhibited regularly at the Boston Art Club between 1877 and 1918.

He was a member of the Boston Society of Watercolor Painters, as well as the Boston Art Club, and exhibited at the Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association, the Eastman Chase Gallery (Boston), Poland Spring Art Exhibitions, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts.

His wife Florence was also a painter, and the two shared studio space in Boston's Fenway Studios.
