| Howard Edwin Hack was born in Cheyenne, WY in 1932. At age 18 Hacked settled in San Francisco and became allied with the Bay Area Figuration movement of the 1950s and 1960s. He studied at the California College of Arts and Crafts, the San Francisco Art Institute, and earned a B.S. in philosophy from the University of San Francisco.
Works held: San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Denver Art Museum; Oakland Museum; Whitney Museum; University of Michigan Museum of Art.
