This biography from the Archives of AskART:
1950 graduate of Kansas State Univ. in Manhattan.  Creator of a newer, meaner-looking “Willie the Wildcat”, the KSU mascot. Hagan made two Willie heads out of coyote and wolf hair.   The first head lasted from 1967 until 1980. The second lasted until 1993.  Hagan left Kansas in 1950 to live in the Chicago area and work in advertising, personnel, and labor relations.  In 1970
he returned to Manhattan and opened a schoolhouse studio devoting his full-time to art. Professor Emeritus of Art at the Univ. of Virginia, he has had a number of exhibits of his
sculpture and his graphic art.

Exhibitions: Zabriske Gallery, 1975.

Collections: National Gallery of Art.
