Jim Holland was born in Schenectady, NY in 1955. His attraction to places close to the water may have begun with childhood vacations to the Adirondack Mountain lakes. While still young, Holland moved to the Florida coast, and in the summer of 1978, vacationed on Cape Cod. Since then the Atlantic coast has been at the center of his work. He was drawn to Cape Cod for its beautiful light.
