| | Born in Delafield, WI on March 4, 1875. Hawks came to Los Angeles shortly after his birth. By 1921 he was active in the Sierra Madre art colony. A machinist, he painted in his leisure. He died in Los Angeles of tuberculosis on Dec. 19, 1945.
