| A landscape painter and craftsperson, Jean Harman was born in Dayton, Ohio. She lived in Los Angeles in the 1930s and was a student of Martella Cone Lane, Clyde Keller, and H. Raymond Henry.
She was a member of the Glendale Art Association, the Women Painters of the West, and the Oregon Society of Artists.
