Born in California on Sept. 1, 1913, Joan Hanford graduated from San
Mateo College and then attended Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles,
McNulty Art Institute in Rockport, MA; and the Universities of Georgia
and Virginia.
During WWII her artistry was put to use as a visualizer while in the
Army Air Corps. After the war she worked for Hughes
Aircraft.
Unmarried, she died in Jacksonville, OR on April 10, 2005.
